I do love a moon gate......but why are they so popular? Well firstly they symbolise eternal love, the circle of the weddings band and are thought to bring luck. According to legend if a newly married couple step through a moon gate an abundance happiness will follow.
It's said that a ships captain brought the moongate plans to Britain in 1860 after a trip to China. In Chinese philosophy "Feng shui" Moongates serve as a welcoming entrance. Fishermen and sailors would pass though them for luck. This has them evolved over time come to mean a promise of good fortune and as mentioned be for a lifetime lf happiness.
Today they are used as a focal point for a wedding, predominantly the ceremony and then later on as a "photo backdrop". There are many ways we can dress a moongate from 2 swags, too half or fully decorated and by decorated this could be folliage only or a mix of foliage and flowers. Moongates come in many different shapes and sizes, different materials, and colours.
